Summer is one of the most popular times for weddings here. And it makes sense, everything is in full blooms, the trees are full and lush, and the weather is beautiful. Summer is a relaxing time of year (hello summer vacations!), so it’s no surprise that summer is a great wedding season. Plus, the longer days mean that there is more time for those gorgeous sunset photos, and after the sun sets you get those wonderful summer nights.
We all know that Mother Nature can be unpredictable, and summer is no different. Many of our couples who plan summer weddings have one concern – the heat! Luckily for us, the canyon provides a nice summer breeze, and temperatures are typically cooler than surrounding cities. That being said, it can still get hot in the summer months, so we’ve put together a list of the best ways to beat the heat for your perfect summer wedding.
There’s nothing worse than having your hair and makeup melt off after being outside for 10 minutes. If you are planning a Summer wedding, be prepared for hot or humid weather! Let your makeup artist know that your ceremony and/or photos will be outdoors so they can be sure to use the best makeup to stand up against the heat.
For your hair, considering having an up-do, or a half-up hairstyle to help keep your hair from falling flat, and warming up your neck.
Pro-Tip: For warm days, be sure to have some extra make-up setting spray and oil blotting sheets on hand.
You’d never know that this day was a scorcher from how stunning these ladies look!
No one wants to be bogged down with heavy, warm clothing on a hot day. If you are planning a summer wedding, consider skipping the jackets for the guys. We think they look great without the coat!
For the your bridesmaids, consider doing short or sleeveless dresses. If you love long dresses, pick a light and breezy fabric.
Brides – we recommend sleeveless dresses without too many layers.
Ceremony fans are a great way to keep guests cool and comfortable during the ceremony. There are countless cute fans you can find on Pinterest and Etsy, but here are two of our favorites.
This clever idea doubles up as a fan and a program. This also makes for a fun and easy DIY project!
We also love these wooden fans that this couple provided. Bonus – these act as a favor for your guests!
We love that the tree at our ceremony site provides plenty of shade for our guests, but if you’d like to add more, parasols are a great option! Purchase your own custom ones, or rent ours. Either way, your guests can have their own personal shade-maker for your ceremony.
You know we love practical favors, so we of course love when couples give out sunglasses for their ceremony! Not only are they useful, but it is a cute favor that guests can use long after the wedding is over.
Summer and ice cream goes hand in hand, and who doesn’t love ice cream? This couple had C.R.E.A.M cater ice cream sandwiches for their guests – it was a hit!
We hope these tips helped, now go plan your fabulous summer wedding!
"Madeline, we wanted to thank you for the wonderful day we had at Elliston. You and your team made it happen for us and our family and friends. The venue was beyond beautiful. The setting was romantic and elegant, and everything from our first tour to the last meeting was easy for us. The food and drinks were great, guests loved it and told us that the food was wonderful. Thank you for taking such good care of us, and thank you for your guidance from beginning to end of the night." - Celeste & Matt, August 8, 2018
